Small Stream Rainbow Trout Fishing Heats Up

The streams of Bristol Bay are literally turning red as the bright-red Sockeye Salmon swim into the gin clear water.  It’s an amazing sight to see from the window of an airplane flying 500 ft. overhead.

The Rainbow Trout are coming out of the lakes to follow the salmon and gorge on their eggs.  The first spawning salmon dig their nests and then attract lots of trout, char and grayling behind them.  The trout, especially, are cat-quick to grab the salmon eggs that loose from the nests.  Their energy is a thing to behold.
