Dear Orvis, I fly fish all over the world, each year. I have been to over a dozen lodges, and Crystal Creek is the most professionally run trout, char, salmon, waterfowl operation anywhere. They have access to world class rivers, a fleet of beavers in perfect condition, terrific guides, and the food is superb. Importantly, Dan Michels considers fighting for the protection of Bristol Bay as central to the lodges responsibilities as a steward of these rivers and lakes, and has played a critical role in supporting my organization and the Bristol Bay Defense Fund. When we needed to take a group of funders and conservation partners over the Pebble mine site, Dan and his staff dropped everything and personally flew us around. This led directly to much needed support and as a result the Bristol Bay Defense Fund was able to prevail in winning the support of all the key organizations in Bristol Bay to support action by the EPA to stop the Pebble.
