Wondering what else there is to do at Crystal Creek Lodge outside of fishing? Well here’s the short list. The long list?  Your imagination is the only limitation.

Design an Alaska adventure itinerary based at Crystal Creek Lodge to trek across the sky of Southwest Alaska. See a region that is wild, dramatic, and incredibly diverse. You’ll be hundreds of miles from the thousands of tourists mobbing the popular cruise ship ports or highway-accessible regions of the State. The best part is you might be the only visitor of the day to some of the more exotic places we visit.

Beach Combing the Alaska Peninsula. The ultimate scavenger hunt for kids of all ages.  There are so many interesting things that you can find on our fly-in beach walks on the Bristol Bay coast – antique Japanese fishing floats, shells, driftwood, interesting rocks, bones of giant sea mammals, artifacts, and more.

Birding Southwest Alaska. With such a rich salmon-based ecosystem, it should come as no surprise that we have a great variety of both resident and migratory birds that you can see during a trip to Crystal Creek Lodge.

Kayak the Naknek River. We have hard-shell kayaks that are perfect for paddling around our home river. Get shuttled upriver with a guide, or just go for a quick out-and-back paddle from the dock. Your choice!

Rafting in Katmai National Park. We fly out and float several different rivers in the region with inflatable rafts. We normally use these boats for our anglers to access Katmai’s incredible fisheries. There’s an equal opportunity to float our remote rivers and take in the scenery, wildlife, and solitude.

Flight Seeing Southwest Alaska. We employ both floats and wheeled bush planes to access phenomenal places in and around the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. The flying in itself is an experience not to be missed. At Crystal Creek Lodge, we can do special flightseeing tours in and around some of the most stunning scenery you’ll find anywhere.

Picnic at Aniakchak National Monument. When the weather cooperates, we can sometimes fly over and land at the least visited National Park property in the country.

Walrus Viewing Bristol Bay. A unique wildlife opportunity found in a few other places in the world. Come see hundreds or thousands of walrus.

Tour the Valley of 10,000 Smokes. The result of the largest volcanic eruption in the 20th century is one of the most famous features in Katmai National Park. Hike around the flow, have a picnic, and find wonder in the unearthly landscape.

Brown Bear Viewing Katmai National Park. Katmai is famous for hosting the largest concentration of brown bears in the world. We guide specialized fly-out bear viewing tours at different locations in the park.

Alaska Photography Tour. Whether you like to photograph landscapes or wildlife we can take you on a custom Alaska photo safari.

Sightseeing and Interpretive Ground Tours National Parks and Refuges. We’re fortunate to be located within flying distance of Becharof National Wildlife Refuge, Aniakchak National Monument, the Alaska Peninsula National Wildlife Refuge, Lake Clark National Park, and Katmai National Park. Join us to see some of the most pristine wild places left on planet Earth.

Hiking and Cultural Tour. Imagine hiking a trail through a mountain pass used by Eskimos and Aleuts to portage and trade for thousands of years. Then, consider the same trail was used by Russian traders and explorers in the 1700s when the land was in Russian America. How about hiking to the rim of a volcano that has been dormant for 30 years?

Eskimo Village Cultural Tour. Visit an authentic Yup’ik Eskimo village to meet its friendly residents. See their craft skills honed and derived from thousands of years of survival. Gain insights into a way of life that corresponds to the seasons, not the clock.

Read a good book in the lodge. Reading a good book by the fire is a perfectly acceptable vacation activity.  We have some excellent reads on area attractions and history if you don’t have your own.

Exercise in our fitness center. Exercise is important, and it’s a great way to start the day. That’s why we offer access to our fitness center. You can be in remote Alaska while keeping your exercise routine.

Enjoy the hot tub. Stiff and sore from that tundra hike? Take a soak in our screened-in hot tub overlooking the Naknek River.

Relax with a massage. At Crystal Creek Lodge, we like to give our guests every opportunity to relax during their stay with us. Enjoy a massage after a great day of Alaska wilderness activity.

Hang out in the Cigar Gazebo. Whether you are a cigar aficionado or you just indulge while on a fishing trip with great friends, we have a screened-in cigar gazebo with a view of the river and the big sky available for your use.

Billiards in the Beaver Bar – Like to play pool? We’ve got you covered in the Beaver Bar. A few of our guides are good for a game or two after dinner.

Wine Tasting. We have a phenomenal selection of wines from around the world, and we do our best to offer excellent pairings with dinner.
