  • Good times at Crystal Creek Lodge

The King Salmon are in the Naknek and Nushagak Rivers, the Sockeye Salmon have been streaming by our dock on the Naknek River and the Rainbow Trout have been feeding aggressively on the salmon smolt running downstream.  Even after so many years of witnessing it I am constantly amazed by the sight of it all.  While the cycle of life of the rivers of Bristol Bay remain timeless and consistent, we at Crystal Creek Lodge are always looking for ways to innovate and be the bridge between the world of nature and the world of our guests.  Thus, we designed and have posted this all-new web site.  Our goal is always to serve by providing you with the highest possible level of information and communication. With the new website, viewers will get ultimate user-friendly experience with improved navigation, better imagery and rich functionality throughout. Plus, it’s a site that’s mobile and tablet friendly. We are dedicated to making it as easy as possible for you to remain inspired by your experiences with us and remain connected.

Our deep gratitude to Crystal Creek guide alumnus and current graphic designer Todd Scott, owner of Tailfin Media of Bozeman, MT for the design and graphics inspiration, Austen Cameron of  Bozeman, MT, for his engineering wizardry and my nephew, Jorge A. Gonzalez of for his oversight and farsighted technical advice.

With this blog we’ll be adding lots of new content to keep you up to date with what’s going on at Crystal Creek Lodge and our remote camps as well. So, please keep checking back for the latest information, news, photos and fish tales. Also, don’t forget to check out our Facebook Page for the latest info as well.

Thank you for supporting us in the life we love, and for allowing us to share the experience with you.  If you know of someone who would appreciate the Crystal Creek experience, please share this with them.  Thank you.

“See you down the road.”
Dan Michels

P.S. Below is a shot of me with a beautiful trout taken opening day of trout fishing, June 8,  on the Naknek River. I fished with friends Jim Nies and Steve Hyams.  The photo was taken about 10:30 pm.  We began fishing at 9:00 pm after a long day of working on the lodge, crawling under cabins and bending over.  Maybe that’s why it looks like I can’t straighten up.  We fished until 2:00 am and caught lots of nice fish.
